Dr. Jamal Khan
Dr. Khan is a Fellow at Institute of International Studies, Shandong University, and non-resident Fellow at The Global Economic Policy Group (GEPG). His research focuses on quantifying intersectoral linkages and structural dynamics, as well as the connections between international trade, regional development, and environment; more specifically he works on:
§ Belt and Road Economics
§ Interactions between climate change mitigation and sustainable development
§ Energy and economic development
§ Distributional effects of climate policies, and border carbon adjustments.
§ Structural change and intersectoral linkages
His current research focuses on how trade and climate interact, how environmental regulation (EU-BCA) and climate policy affect production costs and competitiveness, and how market-based environmental policies can be better designed. Dr. Khan also investigates the impact of the BRI's investments and trade on regional development and the environment.
Dr. Khan earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Wuhan University in China, as well as his M.Phil. and Master's degrees in Economics from Hazara University in Pakistan. He is well-versed in the application of Multi-Regional Input-Output modeling. Dr. Khan has published numerous academic papers and presented his findings at several international conferences.
Dr. Khan Initiated a collaboration between Wuhan University in China and the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) by establishing a joint research Centre (which is in process) for China-Pakistan economic development in the context of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The Research Centre will bring together economists and researchers from both countries.
